‘Parasite’ wins Oscar Best Picture

Parasite won Best Picture at the 92nd Academy Awards Sunday (EST), making history as the first foreign language film to win the trophy.

The South Korean dark comedy film collected four awards including Best Original Screenplay, Best Director, and Best International Feature Film.

In winning Best Director, Bong Joon Hod did not only become the first Asian from South Korea to win the honor, he also beat Hollywood veterans including Martin Scorsese and Quentin Tarantino.

Upon receiving the Best Original Screenplay trophy, Bong said, “Writing a script is a lonely process. We never write to represent our countries. But this is very personal to South Korea. Thank you.”

The movie has been a favorite in the entire Oscar race, having won big in the Golden Globes earlier this year.
