It has been more than 3 years since the Queen of All Media, Kris Aquino, had a regular television show. She left her mother network for 20 years in April 2016.
After a year of hiatus in showbiz, Kris Aquino’s television comeback via Trip ni Kris aired on ABS-CBN’s rival network. However, the TV Special did not translate well in ratings. GMA’s Trip ni Kris only got 3.7% versus ABS-CBN’s Gandang Gabi Vice which got 4.2% based on the NUTAM People Ratings of Nielsen Philippines.
In 2018, Kris Aquino made a cameo appearance in the Hollywood film, Crazy Rich Asians, as Princess Intan. Her role was very brief but her appearance was one of the highlights.
Kris Aquino wants to do an Afternoon Soap Opera
Kris Aquino commented on Lolit Solis’s intagram post regarding Aquino’s shelved movie project.
The actress wants to go back to acting and to do an afternoon series for GMA-7.
She wrote, “Chill na chill ako Nay. Life is good, Aug. 20, I’ll take the kids on a beach break para hindi ko na lang maisip ang 1st shooting day… sayang lang yung 4.4 million views na on FB nung pag-visit kay Gabby. Maybe kagaya ng pag negotiate mo for me ng Star Talk before, you can negotiate w/ @gmanetwork a teleserye, same slot as Ika-6 na Utos na super sinubaybayan namin! #faith”
It seems that TV Networks are deliberately ignoring Kris Aquino to avoid issues with the current government.
After her GMA-7 stint in 2017, the actress returned to ABS-CBN and made a movie comeback via Star Cinema’s I Love You, Hater in July 2018. The film’s lack of marketing strategies resulted to box office flop, grossing P40 million pesos throughout its whole run.
On the other hand, Crazy Rich Asians which aired the same year earned P82.7 million pesos in just 5 days.
Will GMA Network accept Kris Aquino?
