GMA Heart of Asia Upcoming Shows 2020

GMA First Vice President for Program Management Joey Abacan gave a sneak peak of GMA Heart of Asia upcoming shows for 2020.

The GMA executive revealed 9 programs were acquired by the network and were set to air this year.

Last year, 14 Asian drama series were aired by GMA-7 on its morning and evening blocks. Some of the prized programs that they were able to acquire did not translate well in the ratings game, especially Mr. Sunshine and Sky Castle.

However, some of the programs that they acquired performed well in ratings and have gained an audience. Love in Trouble, Crown Princess, and Are You Human? were among these programs.

So this 2020, more Korean and Lakorn (Thai) series will be aired on GMA-7.

In 1993, Kenji (Yoon Si-Yoon) is a member of popular idol group Jay-2. He is well regarded for his voice, dancing skills and fashion. One day, Kenji suddenly disappears. One moth later, his car is found by a lake and he is presumed dead.

Nobody knows that Kenji was just transported to year 2017, trying to fit in and finding a way to go back to 1993.

Doctor John

Starring: Ji Sung, Lee Se-Young, Lee Kyu-Hyung, Hwang Hee

Cha Yo-han (Ji Sung) is a doctor of anesthesiology. He is arrogant, but he is a genius at his work. Kang Shi-young (Lee Se-young) is a resident of anesthesiology who works with Cha Yo-Han. She is smart, warm and listens carefully to her patients. People, with mysterious acute or chronic pain come to the hospital. There, Cha Yo-han and Kang Shi-young try to find the causes of their pain.

Angel’s Last Mission

Starring: Shin Hye-Sun, Kim Myung-Soo, Lee Dong-Gun, Kim Bo-Mi, Do Ji-Won, Kim In-Kwon

Lee Yeon-seo (Shin Hye-sun) was a supremely talented and successful ballerina with her family’s Fantasia Ballet Company but suffers a devastating accident that leaves her blind. She is bitter and abusive towards her staff, including her loyal secretary and butler, her conniving family, and everyone else. Dan (Kim Myung-soo) is an optimistic, carefree angel who is always getting into trouble. In order to return to heaven he is given the seemingly impossible mission of finding true love for Yeon-Seo, but ends up falling for her himself.

Blooming Treasure

Starring: Mario Maurer, Toey Jarinporn Joonkiat

Anawin (Mario Maurer) is a handsome, rich and spoiled man who doesn’t care about anything in life. His grandfather gave him a condition to get his inheritance, in which he has to work for Pudchompoo (Toey Jarinporn Joonkiat) at her farm for a year, while she takes care of his family’s company.

Pud is a tomboy who despises lazy and selfish man like Anawin, but her respect for his grandfather forces her to agree with his will. Their hate for one another gradually turns into love.

My Love From The Star (2019 Thai Series)

Starring: Nadech Kugimiya, Matt Peeranee Kongthai

Remake of the 2014 hit Korean Drama series My Love From the Star which featured an ensemble cast starring Jun Ji-hyun, Kim Soo-hyun, Park Hae-jin and Yoo In-na.

The story is about an alien who landed on Earth in the Joseon Dynasty and, 400 years later, falls in love with a top actress in the modern era.

Her Private Life

Starring: Park Min-Young, Kim Jae-Wook, Ahn Bo-Hyun

Sung Deok-Mi (Park Min-Young) works as a curator at an art gallery. She is a huge fan of idol group member Shi-An and secretly runs a fan website about him. Because of her affection for Shi-An, she has experienced several personal break-ups. Sung Deok-Mi now focuses only her job and doing activities as Shi-An’s fan in her private life.

One day, Ryan (Kim Jae-Wook) begins work as the new director of the art gallery where Sung Deok-Mi. He was once a famous painter, but he does not paint anymore. Ryan doesn’t have much interest in other people, but he happens to learn that Sung Deok-Mi is a fan of Shi-An and runs his fan website. Ryan takes an interest in Sung Deok-Mi.

VIP

Starring: Jang Na-Ra, Lee Sang-Yoon, Lee Chung-Ah

The story of Sung Un Department Store’s team who works for VIP clients which constitute the top 1% of their customers.

One day after a receiving a text message of her husband’s infidelity from an anonymous source, Na Jeong-seon begins to suspect her husband and her colleagues of having an affair.

In her quest to discover the truth, she ends up revealing more than one secret that her colleagues are hiding.

My Absolute Boyfriend

Starring: Yeo Jin-Goo, Bang Min-Ah, Hong Jung-Hyun

Da-Da (Bang Min-Ah) works as a special effects make-up artist. Due to a scar of love, she has a cold heart. She has a humanoid robot Young-Goo (Yeo Jin-Goo) programmed to be the perfect boyfriend to her.

Popular actor Ma Wang-Joon (Hwang Jung-Hyun) appears in front of her and he has feelings for her. Da-Da gets involved in a love triangle with Young-Goo and Ma Wang-Joon.

Madam Pushy

Mario Maurer is back on Philippine TV via Heart of Asia Upcoming Shows

Starring: Mario Maurer, Ploy Chermarn Boonyasak, Chai Chatayodom Hiranyatithi

Madam Pucci (Ploy) and Jae Mieng (Chai) have been long time rivals in the entertainment industry. Madam Pucci had a best friend who was a rising star, played by Bow Benjawan, and her best friend’s manager was Jae Mieng, who sold her a wealthy old man to fulfill his sexual desires.

Madam Pucci blames Jae Mieng for her best friend’s death, which was a suicide. Since then, Madam Pucci vows to bring Jae Mieng down herself and reveal all of Jae Mieng’s dirty secrets.

Extraordinary You

Starring: Kim Hye-Yoon, Rowoon, Lee Jae-Wook, Lee Na-Eun, Jung Gun-Joo, Kim Young-Dae, Lee Tae-Ri

Extraordinary You is based on the webtoon July Found by Chance which was first published in January 2018 on Daum Webtoon.

The series follows high school girl Eun Dan-oh (Kim Hye-Yoon) who is a student at a prestigious academy. Her family is wealthy, but Eun Dan-Oh has a heart disease.

Her fiance Baek Kyung (Lee Jae-Wook) attends the same prestigious high school. She likes him a lot, but he does not like her at all. Suddenly, Eun Dan-Oh has short-term memory loss and she can see what will happen in the near future. She gets confused by her symptoms. Then, Jinmiche, from the school cafeteria, tells Eun Dan-Oh that she is a character in the comic “Secret” like everybody else there.

Eun Dan-Oh learns that her character is not even a main character, but rather an extra and she doesn’t have much time to live. Eun Dan-Oh is stunned, but she decides she wants to find her own true first love and not someone written by the comic writer.

The Last Empress

Starring: Jang Na-Ra, Choi Jin-Hyuk, Shin Sung-Rok, Lee Elijah, Shin Eun-Kyung

The Last Empress is set in a hypothetical constitutional monarchy in 2018 and follows the life of a musical actress who marries the Emperor of the Korean Empire. She searches for true love and happiness as she contends with palace life, eventually getting entangled in the murder of the emperor’s grandmother, leading to the demise of the imperial family.
